5.0 out of 5 stars SO-DEE-POP, August 11, 2006

I'm a fan of Coke. I know how bad it is for me, calorie-wise, glycemic load-wise, so it's not an everyday indulgence. But diet soft drinks just don't do it for me. I'm not sure why. I'm quite capable of loading my coffee with tons of artificial sweeteners, but for whatever reason, artificial sweetener in coffee is a lot less offensive than artificial sweetener in soft drinks.

We called it `pop' in Chicago, they call it `soda' in Boston. I had a friend from Alaska whose father wore a bowtie and used to call it "soda-pop," pronounced like `SO-dee-pop.'

I think there is a political reason I'm not suppose to like Coke. I can't remember what it is. I like to be a responsible consumer but it can become quite burdensome keeping track of which companies are related to which other companies and who is involved in which particular strain of corporate corruption. I think you just have to live you life and accept some complicity with the system or go off in cave... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Coke > Pepsi, July 30, 2005

I agree with VHF and SMH. Contrary to popular opinion, I believe Coke slays Pepsi. Coke has a better taste and more caffiene while Pepsi tastes too sweet and watery. Sorry for the band comparisons like VHF and SMH, but Coke is like Dream Theater and Pepsi is like Korn. Dream Theater is bold and keeps me going through my days, while Korn is good for a while but after a while it gets boring (yeah, I recent got out of nu-metal). So, if you're at the store, skip the box of pepsi and get the box o' Coke.

Wow. I have seen it ALL, folks. Being able to review COKE?! That's unheard of. Amazon, you ARE the best website for reviews. Anyways, on to the product I'm reviewing...

This is how I would describe Pepsi.

Pepsi is generic crappy soda. All it is is sugar, syrup, caramel coloring, water, and caffeine all carbonated together to make a beverage. Now, give it a "cool, mainstream, hip" feel. There you go folks. That's Pepsi for ya.

Now this how'd I'd describe Coke:

Coke is a combination of sugar, syrup...oh, crap. Coke has the same ingredients as Pepsi! Well, for some reason, the masterminds at Coca-Cola are able to mix those ingredients better, and create a bolder, more tasteful carbonated beverage, for all people to enjoy. Some people will listen to their friends, and think Pepsi is "cooler." So, this how I'd compare the two beverages:

Pepsi is like Simple Plan. Coke is like Rancid.

One's real, the other's a poser... Read more
